Shiremade is a directory of the small businesses serving the Sutherland Shire, south of Sydney. We started it because times like these aren't easy, and supporting local matters more than ever — for the people doing the work, and for the place we all live in.

The intent is simple. One honest place to find the cafés, the sparkies, the bakers, the makers, the studios out the back of houses, the trades vans driven from Engadine to Bundeena. The names you already know, and the ones that deserve to be known.

The Shire's local heroes, chosen on their reviews. Nobody pays to be here. Listings come from Google's local listings for the Shire, chosen on Google rating and the number of reviews behind it, measured against businesses of the same kind. Then we check them, and chains, franchises and anything outside the Shire come off. There's more on how we list in the terms. We don't run ads and we don't take payment to list a business. We get it wrong sometimes — when we do, we fix it.

Shiremade is made by a small studio here in the Shire. We build websites for local businesses, and we built this because we kept meeting people doing good work with no decent way to be found. Being listed is free, and always will be — it isn't a trial, and nobody gets bumped for not being a client.
