About this place
Something at Mary’s is a pottery studio run by the artist Marion Stehouwer, who teaches glazing and painting as well, one on one or in groups. The teaching draws on a background in art therapy and goes step by step. By road, the studio is a drive through the Royal National Park.
Beginners can hand-build a cup, bowl and plate breakfast set, a smushing platter or a flying fish lantern too. Students who have done the wheel throwing and turning courses can go on to throw a teapot, or a large bowl or vase, over two days. Courses include clay, equipment and firing; pieces are glazed and kiln fired at the studio, then collected, or posted for an extra charge. Classes are booked through the website, and hens parties and team-building days are arranged with the studio.
